TBB as Taylor Swift Songs Character + Song Analysis Part Seven
Part - One - Two - Three - Four - Five - Six - Eight
You guys voted, I'm here to deliver. It's everyone's favorite twins in the Bad Batch
Tech + Crosshair - Exile
I'm going the extra mile to color code the lyrics to showcase their different thoughts and mindsets
Crosshair Tech Both
Okay so obviously we're going to ignore the fact that this song is about a breakup so take several of these lyrics with a grain of salt.
(And a lot of these might not nessesarily be Crosshair and tech but are more relevent to the batch as a whole, I hope you don't mind.)
I can see you standing, honey With his arms around your body Laughin', but the joke's not funny at all
I can see you starin', honey Like he's just your understudy Like you'd get your knuckles bloody for me
I see this as how in Aftermath the entire batch has an immediate click with Omega, except for Crosshair, and it almost adds this feel that Omega is replacing Crosshair in the batch. The symbolism of Omega sleeping in the gunners mount really showcases this, although Crosshair doesn't even know about that.
That last line in orange also stands out because in Aftermath theres a very stark difference in Crosshair in that he's no longer defending his brothers from the regs. He doesn't fight in the cafeteria until theres a direct offense against him(the loss of his lunch), whereas in TCW S7 we see he'll instantly defend his brothers when they're picked on. He's no longer that person and I bet it's noticable to his brothers, especially Tech, who we know from "He's always been severe and unyielding" is very attentive to Crosshair's personality.
And it took you five whole minutes To pack us up and leave me with it Holdin' all this love out here in the hall
And when the Batch escape Kamino, leaving Crosshair behind, he's angry, and feels betrayed. I want to bring up that Crosshair rationalized his allegiance to the empire by planning to get his brothers back where they would all join the Empire together. He never stopped caring for them, even if it was in a twisted way, but he thinks that they stopped caring for him, as they left him behind, but came back for Crosshair. He feels like he's the only one carrying the love they once shared. He's standing alone with that love in the hall. He can't go back into the room of the past relationship they had, but he's been locked out of the room his brothers have now gone into.
Second, third, and hundredth chances Balancin' on breaking branches Those eyes add insult to injury
Tech, as well as the rest of the Batch, continuously give Crosshair chances to come back to them, and even when Crosshair refuses, Tech doesn't give up on him. When Tech finds out that Crosshair was imprisoned he's the first to declare Crosshair is still their brother. Offering Crosshair another chance, even if Crosshair himself doesn't actually know about it. Then Tech states that they don't leave their own behind, which, isn't exactly true because they did leave Crosshair behind. Tech is trying to hold on to the promises their entire squad has made, to balance on that branch, but the fact that they've already broken that promise twice is breaking those branches, and Tech is determined not to break that promise a third time now.
I think I've seen this film before And I didn't like the ending You're not my homeland anymore So what am I defending now?
Each time they meet again in S1, it never ends well. Crosshair and The Batch both try to reach out to each other but to no avail, and it never ends well.
Their family used to be each other, but they don't even have that now. And yet they continue to defend each other. Crosshair is ready to have the four of his brothers join him in the Empire, to defend them to Rampart and convince him to let them stay. And when all of his brothers are mad at Crosshair, Tech is the one who explains his actions.
And to that you might say "But wait, Tech wasn't defending Crosshair in that moment?"
No. He wasn't. But Crosshair thought he was.
Crosshair thought Tech was defending him, but Tech shoots him down. Tech wasn't defending him because they no longer have the relationship we saw in TCW where they defend each other no matter what. That bond between them has now been broken.
You were my town Now I'm in exile, seein' you out I think I've seen this film before So I'm leavin' out the side door
The lyrics repeat "Now I'm in exile, seein you out" implying that it's not one of them exiling the other, they're both exiling the other. They're in exile, but they're also sending the other into their own exile. Crosshair might have turned on them, but they abandoned him. They're equally to blame here.
Okay so, I'm gonna be honest I'm really proud of this part, I think this might be my best analysis, if not the one I did for Hunter. Thank you so much for reading this, if you liked it, please drop a heart or let me know in the comments! It means a lot to me. I hope you're all ready for Omega's. It's not as sad as this one, but it's a folklore song so...

The Television Academy watching Carrie Coon deliver one of the greatest performances of the decade: No
The Television Academy watching Carrie Coon act cunty in a soap opera: Yes

gilded age mutuals look away if you must but COME ON. LETS BE SERIOUS. i looooooove gilded age i love nothing television i love this stupid soapy show about my beautiful princess with a disorder and the entire town who hates her. HOWEVER. you (the academy) need to look me in the EYE and tell me carrie’s performance as bertha russell is the best she’s ever done. WHAT ARE YOU SAYING. i LOVE bertha. but she is NOT the crazy girl of all time. she is NOT the bravest girl on earth. she is NOT nora durst.
“ace you have to think about the strength of schedule” THE LEFTOVERS WAS ONLY EVER NOMINATED FOR ONE EMMY. AND IT WAS FOR ANN DOWD GUEST ACTRESS IN THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE WORLD (and his identical twin brother). LIKE THATS A WHOLE OTHER CAN OF WORMS. the show was never nominated. the writing was never nominated. the directing was never nominated. i have no love for the man but justin theroux was never nominated?? CARRIE?!?! WAS ?!?! NEVER ?!?!? NOMINATED ??!?!,!?!?! after the performance of HER lifetime, MY lifetime, every single person who ever has or ever will live’s lifetime???

lead actor i like sterling k brown so he’s keeping the win but once again goodbye spacey and theroux enjoy your nomination. lead actress elisabeth not only are you not getting the win i might take the nomination from you too. sorry. carrie coon needs it more. we need to be on the right side of history. supporting actress ann dowd won which i can’t BE TOO UPSET ABOUT but im taking millie bobby brown’s nomination away and giving it to amy brenneman like i’m sorry but we need to be serious here. supporting actor i’m taking jonathan banks and mandy patinkin down and putting up christopher eccelston and kevin carroll. OBVIOUSLY.
AND OF COURSE ANN DOWD IS WINNING FOR BEST GUEST ACTRESS LIKE. alexis bledel sweetie i’m sorry but that award is not yours. but please take a picture with alison wright for me i would enjoy that.
best directing went to handmaid’s tale offred. i’m sure it was a good ep. anyways taking that down and taking stranger things ep 1 down and putting both most powerful man in the world and book of nora. book of nora is winning probably. (also taking down bcs witness and putting up chicanary. like come on here folks). best writing ALSO went to offred yea sorry. it can stay up i guess i’m just taking down stranger things ep 1 and putting up book of nora which will be winning. (notice how chicanery was properly nominated here).
well that’s all from me!!! so happy that everything i just wrote actually happened!! i can’t believe the leftovers won so many emmys BUT IT WAS WELL DESERVED!!

[Image description: a Hermitcitizen card, showing a humanoid creature made out of soul sand, with nether wart for hair. It's looking at the viewer, and holds a large pile of books in its hands. Its signature vaguely resembles a mushroom. Card text reads:

jumping on the hermitsona hype train! template by ink-ghoul
this little soul first joined Hermitcraft after the Nether reset in season 7, and has since performed many jobs, mostly in their Nether homeland. (They tried picking up work in the Overworld as well, but with little success - most jobs require extensive Elytra use, which is a bit challenging when your body is just a pile of sand you're possessing.)
its work in season 9's Nether includes, but is not limited to, organizing the shelves of the library, making sure the nether tunnels are safe and accessible, signing trading agreements with the local piglins... the list goes on. if it ever invites you to its base, do not skip out on its delicious mushroom soup. it's the best.

Homeland World Cup: best episode? (First Match). Best episode of S8 (Prisoners of War) against best episode of S7 (Paean to the People). Make your choice. (And does it clarify the reasons for choosing this option over the other option?)
Homeland World Cup: best episode? (Match 2). Best episode of S6 (R Is for Romeo) against best episode of S5 (Our Man in Damascus). Make your choice. (And does it clarify the reasons for choosing this option over the other option?)
Homeland World Cup: best episode? (Match 3).Best episode of S3 (Big Man in Tehran) against best episode of S4 (13 Hours in Islamabad). Make your choice. (And does it clarify the reasons for choosing this option over the other option?)
So... my bracket is a bit different than yours because my best episodes are different (I used a random list generator to seed the episodes, putting them in actual ranked order would be sort of silly lol).
Match #1, "Q&A" vs. "Marine One" is the most interesting because these are arguably the best episodes this show ever did. "Marine One" will always be my favorite ever episode of this show, but I think "Q&A" will be the show's legacy. If this wasn't my bracket, "Q&A" would win but it is mine so there.
Match #2, I think "Super Powers" is the best episode of season 5 for Claire's performance. I mostly agree "13 Hours in Islamabad" is the best of season 4, but is it actually "There's Something Else Going On"? "13 Hours" is the payoff but the build-up is pretty damn good and nothing in season four is topping the tarmac scene. "13 Hours" doesn't really make me feel anything while "Super Powers" has this iconic moment in television. Winner "Super Powers."
(god bless tumblr for upping their gif size limit so this could exist)
Match #3 also highly interesting. "The Star" is miles better than "Big Man in Tehran" although Claire's brunette hair and bun-ness.... phew. But the bun exists in "The Star" and the episode landed the three-years-long saga that was The Carrie and Brody Misadventures. That said "Prisoners of War" landed the eight-years-long Saga of Carrie and Saul. Advantage "Prisoners of War."
Match #4 is a forfeiture because no episode in season 6 is as good as season 7 so there ya go. But also is "Paean to the People" better than "Species Jump"? We could have that conversation.
Match #5 aka BATTLE OF SARA'S SOUL. "Marine One" remains that girl. We had hat. Hat >>>>>>>
Match #6 feels a little rote as well. Nothing is beating "Prisoners of War" in my heart except "Marine One."
Match #7 ... see above.
FOR YOUR BRACKET:
(you didn't choose a fourth match from the first two seasons so I was just a lil chaotic and chose two episodes that are often said to be the best of that season)
Match #1 "Prisoners of War" beats "Paean" pretty easily because one of them has Yevgeny and Carrie in Moscow listening to jazz and one of them ... doesn't. There's only so much that Claire's line reading of "Congratulations" can do, ya know?
Match #2 "Our Man in Damascus" remains that girl. Allison Carr did what she had to do and Carrie sprinting through a Berlin train station is forever and ever all-time.
Match #3 I'm gonna be a lil' chaotic again and say "Big Man in Tehran" JUST FOR FUN. Is "13 Hours" more genuinely thrilling? Yeah. But it's sort of like watching a Bruce Willis action movie (in goodbad ways) and as much as I love Quinn yelling "FUCK" into the darkness and screaming at Saul, is it making me feel anything the way that Saul screaming at Carrie "you really fucked it up this time!" or Carrie pleading with Brody across the courtyard or just speaking fluent French or being the originator of HAIR IN A BUN does??? I don't think so. Everyone in "Big Man" shows up with completely different hair than the previous episode and you can't top that.
Match #4 sometimes I forget that "The Weekend" is as good as it is because I have to maintain the part of my personality that worships "Marine One." But.... y'all... "The Weekend" was doing some things. My controversial opinion is "New Car Smell" is not as good as we remember, sorry. "The Choice" was doing more, but still not as much as "The Weekend."
Match #5 "Prisoners of War" wins over "Our Man in Damascus" because
Match #6 I'm going with "The Weekend" again because in the lore of Carrie and Brody, which is what both episodes are operating on, there is "The Weekend" ... and then "Q&A" ... and then everything else.
Match #7 is actually quite tricky because both episodes really do make me feel something. I watched both episodes repeatedly after I first saw them. Both episodes will stay with me forever. But I have to go with my gut and say "The Weekend." "Prisoners of War" is indeed spectacular, magical, almost awe-inspiring in how effectively it landed this big ol' plane. But "The Weekend"? That shit was on another level. It said, you know everything you're expecting about this Carrie and Brody cat-and-mouse game? You know everything you're thinking this story will be about? It's not that. "Prisoners" was so wonderful because it took everything we (I) wanted and made it somehow real and believable and true. But "The Weekend" is extraordinary because it took everything you thought you wanted and then gave you something so much better that it seemed silly to have ever wanted the other thing.

I was just here thinking about how I've been in this fandom for roughly three and a half years now and how it all came to pass and how life is a bitch, you know.
I was just minding my own business, lalala, and then a freaking vampire teen show on the CW decided not to give me my promised endgame, and that made me so ??? indignant ??? I had to start reading and writing fanfiction. And now three and a half years later I'm still here, more obsessed with the pairing than I had ever been while the shows were airing, all because they wouldn't deliver on this basic promise.
I mostly dislike everything that happened to the TVDu after S5 of TVD. Few scenes here, few characters there, whatever. But I didn't enjoy it anymore. It didn't SPARK JOY. And yet I was really chill about it. I see people getting legit mad at showrunners and stuff, and while I understand the feeling, I never really shared that hatred because I was always willing to accept that TVD was just going to be bad. And there's nothing wrong with that! lol I enjoy the bliss of crappy TV. Bad, absurd, nonsensical shows can make for really great entertainment. Not everything has to be Six Feet Under, you know. And when I started watching TVD, I think mid-season 3 was already airing, or maybe s4 was about to start, so I had a pretty good idea what I was getting into, never had any expectations about what a teen drama on the CW was or was not going to deliver. I was chill.
So when it went from bad-but-actually-good to just bad, I was just shrugging, rolling my eyes and going 'ok', because all I wanted was my endgame. That's the only reason I was watching it. I was never drawn to TVD as a whole, the storytelling was never that compelling to me, the world building never truly gripping, and while the first 3 seasons were REALLY good (S2 and 3 are awesome, come on), what kept going back every week was Klaroline. And I figured, even after S4, one day the crossover will happen, they will bring those two back together. There's no way they're just gonna throw this out. I was willing to wait patiently for it. However long it takes.
Not really though, because I ended Marie Kondo-ing the shit out of that and quit TVD on S7 and couldn't make it past the beginning of TO S3, so I dropped both. But every six months I would hop on Google and type 'Klaroline crossover'. Something told me one day it would come. When S5 was finally announced, I felt PEACE, man. I was like YES, FINALLY. I KNEW IT. I felt REWARDED. I EARNED this.
And here's the thing about me: all my ships die. It's just a curse I carry with me that I'm sure I will pass on to my children, and my children's children, and their children after that. The curse of being eternally heartbroken and frustrated over fictional characters. It's awful here, guys. Real life sucks and then THIS, you know. So unfair.
It's so, so rare for me to actually have a ship that gets me INVESTED. Even when I like characters/a show/a pairing, for me to have PERSONAL FEELINGS towards them, it takes mountains moving and planets aligning. And so far, whenever it has happened, someone died. I NEVER got my endgame. EVER. And when I wrapped myself around Klaroline like a snake around a little calf it wants to devour, it was because I, fool that I am, thought there was NO WAY a teen vampire show wasn't going to give me my endgame, especially when they had been hinting at it for YEARS. TVD LITERALLY ends with them saying Klaroline was endgame. I had just had my heart ripped apart by The Good Wife and Homeland. Torchwood, my OG fandom and only other time I ever got into fanfiction, killed my soul. Cowboy Bebop, my baby Yokie ship? Dead. Beautiful, poetic, I fully support it - but also, consider my heart.
I saw these two vampires, VAMPIRES, and I thought: wow, I'm finally safe. It's the BASIC understanding of teen shows that ships need to happen. You don't cheat teenagers, dude. You don't break their hearts. That's just mean. And then when S5 was announced, I knew I had been right all along. I watched that mess and I was like "They have Nazi vampires in this season and Klaus is out there saying shit like 'They hate me because of what I am' [a hybrid, not a mass murderer psycho who's also essentially an asshole *affectionate*], but hey - it'll be fine. Klaroline will be endgame. Nazi vampires don't matter. Klaroline matters."
I was chill, dudes. I was very chill. Compared to how vitriolic people have been about TVD over the years, I was just CHILL.
And then they betrayed me. While I will argue that Klaroline ended up being *the* endgame pairing, since Elijah essentially worked to get Hayley killed (hahahaha dude wtf), and Caroline and Klaus were *it*, as we always knew they would be, I was just... Livid. I could not BELIEVE what those bitches had done to me.
This was me:
They put me through NAZI VAMPIRES, YOU GUYS. Klaus was like 'Oh no, they are killing wolves, because they are LIKE ME' when he basically spends his entire TVDu career HATING and KILLING wolves himself. And it was all for NOTHING.
I can take shows like The Good Wife killing my ships. I was destroyed, but I can take it, because shows like TGW aim to be 'superior drama'. They are going for the awards. I don't feel cheated by them. But The Vampire Diaries? Are you effing kidding me?
I had been watching TVD for years before that fateful day in August 2018 when Klaus turns to glittery dust without having ever felt like reading fanfiction. But I remember I finished that episode, got my computer, and went straight to AO3. From the ashes of my indignation, an urge was born. And I've been here ever since.
I wasn't even asking for a *good* finale. I had long abandoned any notion that this show, which featured Nazi vamps and a snowflake baby that grows up to kill the mom who basically raised her all by herself, was going to give me *good*. I just wanted it to BE, period. All I wanted was to collect my fan service and be done with it. I'm easy to please, I'd be happy. If they'd given me that, I would probably not be here right now. AND YET.
Why am I writing all this? I have no idea. I was just thinking about it. Life, huh? Just as pointless as this post.
#yokan talks#personal#this makes no sense#long post#for all your mistakes and crimes julie plec#this is the one thing i shall never forgive you for#me and my vampire show that ruined my life#however i love those two idiots your honor#send me to jail

In Defense of Bo-Katan
This character receives an enormous amount of hate and it is so unfair.
Before I begin, I have a few disclaimers to make.
1. I used to be on the hate train for her. When TCW S7 and Mando S2 aired, I hated her. Absolutely loathed her and I was vocal about it. You could go back and find a trail of me hating on her, I want to admit to that before I go on.
2. I love every character I talk about during this. When I compare her to other characters or discuss other characters, it comes from a place of love. Flawed characters are the best characters because it makes them feel human.
3. I am not defending her from a moral standpoint. She does some pretty awful things. What I'm arguing is that a lot of criticism levied at her for being a "bad character" is unfair because what she does either lines up with her motivations and thus makes her a well written character (if not unlikable), or she does things and gets slammed for it when male characters do the same things and get away with it.
I'm just gonna go chronologically and discuss major talking points on why people hate her.
1. Her Discussion with Kenobi in 7×10
People hate on her because of this, and that could be fair, depending on how else you view Star Wars. Bo was responsible for helping bring an organization to power that killed her sister, she weaponized the death of her sister against Obi-Wan, and also her organization (Death Watch) has tried to kill Obi-Wan many times. She is overall being incredibly unfair and awful in this scene.
Okay, so she helped kill a woman important in her life, weaponized that death to guilt Obi-Wan, and also is responsible for attempts on Obi-Wan's life.... why does this feel familiar....
Anakin did much, MUCH worse than her, yet he is still loved. I love Anakin! But it pisses me off that when Bo does it it's a valid reason to hate her and one of the two most commonly listed examples to hate her, but when Anakin does it he gets nuance. Anakin's character and motivations line up to that event, it makes him a flawed character. But when Bo does it, we just hate her?
"But she doesn't have the development to that point like Anakin" the entire Prequel Era is the story of Anakin, no character has as much time dedicated to them. How can Bo have that much development to make it "believable" when the only character who can rival Anakin's level of development is Ahsoka?
If you hate both Bo and Anakin then her Discussion with Obi-Wan is a 100% valid reason to hate her. This is not to say you can't hate her for that, this is to say that there is a lot of hypocrisy in the fandom over this.
2. Sabine Wren
I'm not gonna spend much time on this, cause it isn't a huge reason I see often and it's just, so easy to debunk. I love Sabine and her arc is good, but from a Mandalorian standpoint, she's lucky she left the planet with a decent public standing. She makes a weapon for the empire that is handcrafted to kill Mandalorians and names it after Bo's dead pacifist sister. Under no circumstance is any Mandalorian required to treat her well after that, especially Bo.
I know she has an arc to redeem herself over the course of the show, but imagine if a public figure irl did that. No one would care how hard they worked to redeem themselves, no one would ever trust them again and that is valid.
3. Bo's discussions with Din
The way she and the other two scoff at Din is not kind at all, it's pretty rude. But guess what? Din got aggressive first when they took their helmets off.
I understand being in a cult means your view of the world is purposefully warped and information withheld so he doesn't know better, but why does Bo have this responsibility to be kind to anyone who is mean to her just because they might not know better? Why does Bo NEED to give everyone the benefit of the doubt?
Din was aggressive and accused them of not being mandalorian FIRST, he doesn't know better and that makes Bo's treatment of him less than ideal, but why does she have to respect his beliefs and identity when he IMMEDIATELY is trying to rip apart hers?
She never even says he isn't Mandalorian, just he was raised in a cult, which he high key is. The amount of identity suppression and implied information control in The Children of the Watch or whatever they are called is very cultish.
4. The Boba interaction
This and the TCW S7 interaction with Kenobi are the two big ones I see very frequently.
Before I begin with her motivations, can we talk about how blatant the one-sided hate is in this scene anyway? Boba is standoff-ish and aggressive right from the get go, audibly calling them a waste of time, ridiculing Bo for wanting to liberate her literal ancestral homeland, calling her all sorts of names, etc. Boba is by no means trying to be respectful or diplomatic but that's fine, but when Bo gives the same energy as him she gets hated. Again, Boba starts it by saying they were a waste of time.
Getting mad that she called him "not a real mandalorian" is pointless because he immediately says "never claimed to be". Boba isn't Mandalorian. He isn't. He doesn't view himself as Mandalorian and his connection to the armor is just because of his father, not because of Mandalorian heritage.
Her seething hatred for clones and attacking Boba with it is awful but it's understandable within her character. Clone Troopers came to help in the Siege of Mandalore with the explicit agreement they would leave once Maul was captured. Maul was captured, Order 66 came down, the clones never lifted their occupation. Does that mean her hatred of all clones is justified? No. But is it understandable from her viewpoint? Yes, and that makes her a 3 dimensional, flawed character.
We know it wasn't the clones' fault, but we have no reason to believe Bo knows about the chips. Even then, it is established in Rebels when Kanan first meets Rex and crew that people who know about the chips don't necessarily believe it. It takes discussion with the clones themselves and evidence to sway his belief. So even if Bo knows, why does she need to believe it when Kanan initially didn't? Bo hasn't had any discussions like Kanan and Rex had with a clone on screen, so the evidence already shown in previous media lines up with her hating clones.
Also, the weird stuff with the darksaber is not her fault. It's legit just the writers changing how it works to write their story so now she has to bend. It's inconsistent between Rebels and Mando but literally every character shown so far suffers from it. The Saber has not been won in combat since Maul killed Pre Vizsla, the whole "rightful heir" thing is just a mess and is more inconsistent writing that affects star wars overall, not just Bo.
Conclusion
Hate her all you want but stop letting men get away with the shit you hate her for lmao
I still don't particularly love her at all, I don't tend to think about her much, but y'all, come on.

Im on Homeland S7 E7 and did Wellington just confess his love for Keane??? I’m so confused lol. I’m terrible at reading in between the line. Also, I’ve been bothered by the fact that he calls her Elizabeth since the beginning of the season lol. BRING ROB BACK.
Seriously Wellington is the fucking worst, i miss Rob so much. He was one of Keanes only actual FRIENDS & someone she trusted & enjoyed having around & they just HAD to go blow him up? RUDE.
I have no idea if wellington was confessing love or not, i dont *think* so but i havent watched that scene in a while lololol. I’ll watch it after work & get back to ypu 😂😂

Star Wars Characters as Taylor Swift Songs Because It’s Lockdown 5 Baby And I Have No Ability To Self-Regulate Concentration
Anakin: Right Where You Left Me
Ahsoka: Exile
Rex: Epiphany
Plo Koon: Never Grow Up
Obi Wan: This is Me Trying
Padme: Illicit Affairs
Satine: Mad woman
Hondo Ohnaka: Getaway Car
Yoda: Evermore
Palpatine: No body, no crime
(s/o to @katierosefun because I think she basically invented the star wars swifties fandom overlap)
Reasonings below the cut…
Anakin is very a character that never recovers from any of the trauma he goes through. Whether it’s his mother’s death, Ahsoka leaving, Padme’s death or his history as a slave; all of his hardships cut too close to the bone - he cares too deeply, and a part of him believes, I think; that coming to a point of closure is a betrayal - he can’t accept losses, on any grounds, ever. right where you left me is very much about someone who is stuck and cannot get themselves unstuck after grief, which is why i think it relates to anakin
Ahsoka: exile is very much a separation song; but about the total utter depth of the divide - of all taylor’s breakup songs the divide seems the greatest in exile - and that’s effectively what ahsoka becomes after leaving the order - she’s literally exiled. also the lyrics “youre not my homeland anymore / so what am i defending anymore” and “im not your problem anymore / so who am I offending now” strike me as representative of her struggle of trying to do the right thing, like how she is with trace and rafa defending the jedi even though a part of her believes they don’t deserve it - like when they see the slaves and she makes the comment about how “you’d think” the republic would stop it, but they don’t
Rex; epiphany strikes me as the prayer you make in the worst kind of emergency humanitatrian crisis; like the mental anguish of a conscripted doctor or soldier to a warfront; and by the end of the clone wars he’s so jaded - looking for a reason to believe it was all worth it; like we see in s7 in his conversation w/ Cody and Ahsoka just before order 66
Plo Koon: Never Grow Up has got to be the most underrated TS song ever lol XD. He’s everyone’s dad - especially Ahsoka’s - and he has to raise his lil’ girl in a war zone. He doesn’t want to send her there. I bet he tried to push back Ahsoka’s start as a padawan and refused to be her master because his lil’ heart could not take the strain. 😭 Obi Wan: Obi Wan is depressed and trying and too much has been asked of him for so longa nd he’s thrown into the deep end too young and he don’t have a clue how to give anakin what he needs BUT HE’S TRYING
Padme: hidden marriage; enough said - but also because her relationship with Anakin is, I think, very quietly self destructive for her, and by the time she realises, it’s too late
satine: being a pwerful woman in politics who is very much is contradiction with the popular view, I just feel like this song is so representative of what she’d face and all the backlash against her. plus the story arc ended her for a man so i ant going to make her song about obi because yeah, she loved him - but shes more than a love interest in canon, shes her own political force
Hondo Ohnaka: I mean. Does this One need explaining?
Yoda: This song is kinda about being on the precipice between not knowing if you’re damned or if your salvation will ever come. its about losing hope and giving up on recovery. its about realising youre lost and being afraid youll never be found again. also the line “is there a line that we could just go cross” strikes me as when you want to give up on your values - the self-destructive impulse that youre damned and you might as well throw in the towel now, to just give up - and that makes me think of the jedi and the morally grey choices they make (clone army, for example) and their struggle against corruption and their eventual failure before it
palpatine; I mean. This song has gloaty ‘I got away with it’ vibes, and ain’t that palpatine’s entire character arc?

how would you rank the seasons from least to most favourite?
alright okay right off the bat worst season season 7. for starters i think this season has no staying power i mean like since i’ve been running this blog 4 so long now my knowledge of charmed is encyclopedic and insanely vast more than like it ever need be but for the longest time. i could not remember season 7. like wtf even happened there?? evidently leo became human??? cole returned? the avatars??? like all of it was just. it’s not even necessarily forgettable it’s just i straight up could not remember it for the longest time. and i’ve said it before the concept of utopia was way to advanced for a show like charmed to tackle i am not watching charmed for moral philosophy i am watching bc i love these girls ♥ hee hee hoo hoo magic adventure ✨ tho if i am to offer a single comment on utopia: it’s awfully rich for a show to go on about destiny and fate and then take a stand against utopia in the name of free will. but w/e. i don’t like leo in the avatars i don’t like his dynamic with piper in this season i don’t like whatever phoebe’s doing this season there’s like leslie?? maybe there’s someone else? boring & flavorless they should have been setting up her endgame instead of puttering around. and kyle. zoo wee mama. could have been a great antihero. morally gray. duplicitous. self serving. but no. they gave him all those traits and called him hero/love interest. s7 left a lot to be desired out of the characters and their relationships also gave us phat L’s such as the charmed ones are werewolves don’t worry about it and feminism peaked with naked women. shout out to zankou: demon, dilf, dub & the noir episode.
you know what? fuck it i’ll say it second worse season 5 genuinely fuck season five. this is probably a Very Specific beef 2 me But. i hate what they did to the charmed universe. this was the season that marked the transition of charmed from supernatural drama to campy soap which like. i love camp! i do! but fr. fuck this season and what it did to the worldbuilding. the early season have Such A Vibe to them man with warlocks and witches and just a couple niche monsters from assorted lore that the show took and made their own. season five opens with mermaids goes directly into fairytales then gives us superheros whatever the fuck was going on in that mummy episode the sandman leprechauns and nymphs. and i hate it for that. it takes away from this urban fantasy things that go bump in the night what lurks in the shadows of the back alleys of san francisco in favor of the ugliest cinderella dress ever put to television and an onslaught of horrible irish accents for a full episode. other issues with season five: cole’s still here? why? they don’t know and neither will you! we’re not redeeming him! phoebe’s not getting back together with him! yes he died we just refuse to let him go! the cherry on top of course being a cole-centric 100th episode. shout out to. hmm. lemme think about what i actually liked about this season. i like jason dean as a love interest i don’t remember what he did in s5 but i know he was there. the season finale i’ve talked about how stupid & shitty it was but idc i still love that episode and then shout out to bacarra the only original villain this season that was a proper serve. the crone gets second place.
next on this come on we all saw it coming season 8. it’s a bad season! and i get bts there was a whole lot happening budget cuts missing actor etc. but it goes beyond that. it was a bad season. billie and christie were bad. and i’ve said this before but billie in herself is not an inherently bad character. she was just the literal worst for the show. she was a dollar store buffy blonde confident cocky skilled and ready 2 fight evil But. we are not following her like we followed buffy we are following her mentors. it’s like if we had a show called giles that aired for seven seasons And Then buffy showed up. billie was insanely irritating to watch from our perspective and in general wasn’t like. well written. attempts to humanize her / give her more depth often fell flat. and then christy. oh nelly. oh my god. barely a character. not well acted but hey it would have been a miracle if she was. negatives include dumain who was a mess omg bringing back the triad bringing back the source billie & christy obvi and also involving homeland security. which is season 7′s fault which is why it’s the worst. dubs on the other hand include both coop and henry i really liked them the shoehorned love interests weren’t great but i like their characters i though the way the got rid of leo to save on the budget was really creative and gave us a great piper episode and of course the sugary sweet finale i love it i do what can i say.
yet another controversial choice aptly coming in fourth is season 4. i respect what season 4 set out to do. i think it was a good idea. long form narratives, keeping a darker tone, focusing on character-driven drama and growth. too bad it fucking failed miserably at all of this. cole as the source and phoebe as the queen of hell was just so so botched. they had a very unique opportunity following the death of prue to explore these characters and what it means to them to be charmed, to be witches. they saved the world but the cost is insanely high. they’ve lost an older sister. they’ve gained a new sister. how do you even begin to cope with all this? episodes such as hell hath no fury and brain drain fuck so hard because they work with exactly that. had the whole season been like those episode season four would sit at number one with flying colors absolutely no competition. but alas. we can’t have nice things. the show got so bogged down with phoebe & cole, in a way that was just so, so messy. for starters, whether you loved cole or hated him before, we can all agree source!cole sucked. he was such a strong 180 from what we had seen that the show had to make the source some type of possession to justify half the shit they were trying to pull. and then to pit phoebe and paige against one another over a man was just. disgusting. and the ending of course felt rushed because it was! they wrapped up that entire issue in a nice little bow much faster than they reasonably should have been able to. it could have been a great season. it was definitely not. shout out to the seer an iconic mastermind on barbas levels, as previously stated brain drain and hell hath no fury Specific shout out to piper’s scene at prue’s grave shout out to paige as a character i like what they did with her and um. yeah that’s it.
okay we’re exiting the shit tier in favorite of the good tier welcome to the upper half. kicking us off is season 6. season 6 did what season 4 could not in that it gave us a long form plot that still left plenty of room for like. normal demon of the week episodes. i love phoebe early in this season with her faboo haircut her brand new empathy power and her relationship with jason dean. obvious strikes against for whatever the fuck that baby crazy stint was and also the mata hari episode. yikes. i love paige’s hair color in this season nothing paige as a character necessarily stands out to me however i like how they seem to have hit the blend of work-magic with paige where she wants a life and career outside of magic however she still loves the craft and embraces is with an open heart and mind. season six also gives us chris who was a very fun male lead imo we really didn’t have many like him he’s bitchy. he whines and bitches a lot he’s got an agenda he’s a bit secretive but at the end of the day he just wants a family i like him. i like the character growth we see out of piper i like seeing her try to move on from leo i love seeing her get back together with leo i like her dynamic with chris and her fears about motherhood. i also liked richard but that one takes a lot of justification. L’s are witchstock hyde school reunion used karma off the top of my head also the paige/richard/addiction plotline was so tone deaf. also the girls were mean to darryl : ( he deserved so much better. dubs were chris as a character, tbh the episode little monsters, phoebe with empathy specifically saying i love you too to jason i could write a dissertation on that line alone also the courtship of wyatt’s father and i thought the reveals of evil wyatt and chris being piper and leo’s son were both fun and interesting plot twists.
coming in third is actually season 2 a season i really do love it’s just. it lacks structure. imo there is a lot to love about season 2 morality bites and pardon my past are both delightful time travel episodes we get jack sheridan and bane jessup two of my personal favorite prue love interests we get p3 h2o and a great prue plotline regarding the death of patty we get the super cute cupid episode it’s a great. collection of episodes. it’s not a great season. there’s just imo not a strong enough thread connecting the stories together it’s mainly held together by having the same characters in it over and over again i really liked dan personally but like. i knew we were wasting time there. he was just an obstacle. a super cute loving and caring obstacle who’s great with kids but lbr piper and leo were always endgame. wasting our time on dan was stupid. i do love the sister dynamics in season two “gotta hand it to those pesky little demons they sure have brought us closer together” but again. this season could have benefitted from a rex and hannah type or even like a cole or zankou. this season is less of a season and more of just like a handful of episodes, and while there are some fat dubs, there are also some definite swings & misses. shout out to the time travel episodes the prue centric episodes phoebe’s character growth and maturity throughout this season (e.g. her going back to college) and i also think the fashion got a lot more fun this season.
second place i’m saying season one season one was a really strong start and gave us these really compelling characters with interesting relationships between one another But. a lot of it just kinda falls flat. and credit where credit is due it was a brand new show getting its feet under it but the fourth sister feats of clay which prue is it anyway they just simply aren’t dubs imo. also i don’t like that 70′s episode bc again i am an asshole concerned about The Lore i can’t believe one bitch ass warlock caused the Charmed Ones to grow up without powers. it just really bugs me. all in all the plots as a whole like aren’t great imo they’re nothing to write home about (save for from fear to eternity) it’s really the characters that make this season so goddamn good.
first place congratulations to the one the only season three. this is just because it kinda hits all my requirements in that it has some banger one offs (e.g. all halliwell’s eve, the good, the bad, and the cursed) it has an overarching plot at the exact same time as the source becomes more prominent and obvi cole is also there with murderous intent i like the character growth we see especially from prue i like piper and leo finally get married overall i really like the aesthetic of this season that blends a darker urban fantasy tone with still some charmed fashion and whimsy. strikes against tbh phoebe and cole’s relationship i am insanely picky with my enemies to lovers and the do not come remotely close to cutting the mustard in fact they are almost immediately disqualified however from afar i can see and respect The Drama. shout out to recasting victor prue with pistols death as a character and shannen directing episodes
#and of course this is a matter of opinion i'm not expecting everyone to agree w me Howver#i think you'd also be hard pressed to talk me out of my opinion#like the closer you get to the top there's more wiggle room like what's the best season i think changes with the wind#but the shit tier stays shit tier in my mind it's a matter of personal preference and i personally prefer my season to be good#charmed#💌

Hi Aly! What kind of scenes Keenler related would you like to see in S8? Like you said that you wanted to see Liz and Ressler going undercover together, etc. And do you know if Liz ever called Ressler by his name (Eg: Don/Donnie)? Because I would really like to see that!
For seasons, I’ve wanted to see them undercover together (preferably dressed up because Diego in a tux is HOT (checkout Homeland Emmys) and Megan always looks good in anything and better yet if they have to pretend to be a couple) but I also know that’s probably not so realistic with where the show is right now and the storylines that seem to be in play. That sort of undercover lives more in a lighthearted world and I’m not expecting a lot of that in S8 (but if TPTB chose to give us that, I’d be very grateful).
So, realistically, what I really want to see in S8 is for them to continue to be honest with one another, to continue to have each others’ backs no matter what and to be allies. How that happens specifically is not so important to me, but it’s important that they retain trust and communication because Liz doesn’t really have that with anyone else. Red is still always holding all the cards and refusing to share, Dembe is loyal to Red first, Aram is too flighty and emotional to be trusted with anything serious, and Cooper is always playing politics even while professing loyalty to the Task Force. And don't get me started on Katarina and her manipulative truths. Liz needs someone who is on HER side and right now, that’s Ressler and I want it to stay that way.
For S7, I really wanted Liz to face the reality that she could lose Ressler for good, and she did - in Brothers - though not in the mortal peril way I might have imagined (and I was happy they ultimately did it their way). I’m generally happy to let fanfic be fanfic and canon be canon, if you know what I mean? But we got that beautiful scene at the end of the episode precisely because she faced that reality and decided it was not what she wanted.
And no - Liz has never called him by his first name ever on screen (though I have a strong head canon that Agnes calls him “Uncle Donnie” that I will cling to until they prove otherwise). Red calls him Donald, Cooper has called him Donald and Don, even Aram (though not to his face) has called him Don in the now-defunct “Aram’s Notes.” So Liz is left. (And never mind the former task force members including Jonica and Gale called him Donnie?) I think it will happen eventually and when it does, it will be a nice Keenler moment.

Its good writing, Homeland is excellence in every way. S7 lacks soul, though. Ironically the introduction of real life shit such as Twitter references n Bitcoin kind of made me cringe. I dont know why, I felt like it wasnt a forced theme, but I felt like it was unnecessary. I felt like seasons 1-5 are pure, homegrown genius, S6 was wonderful as well. But season 7 got bizarre. I did think the writing got shitty around the FBI stand off. I cant believe that a bunch of guys like that would
mindlessly follow a turd like that radio show Alex Jones wannabe, and risk their families and children to suicide in a shootout. It made zero sense in the context of normal human behavior. Honestly that Alex Jones turd wouldve been thrown off that hillbilly compound the minute he started gettin shady but idk. Lmao just had to rant.
Interesting take, but recent years' events support the basic architecture of that story, however ridiculous it was to watch.
